Ordinary rubber is an insulator. But the special rubber tyres of aircrafts are made slightly conducting. Why is this necessary?

    Answer:

During landing, the tyres of aircraft may get highly charged due to friction between tyres and the air strip. If the tyres are made slightly conducting, they will lose the charge to the earth otherwise too much of static electricity accumulated may produce spark and result in fire.
