The electric charge of any body is actually a surplus or deficit of electrons. Why not protons?

    Answer:

Electrons are loosely bound to atoms and can be readily exchanged during rubbing. Protons are firmly bound inside the nucleus. They cannot be easily detached. Hence electric charge of any body is just a surplus or deficit of electrons and not protons.
