A person wants to travel a distance of 50km by his bicycle. He travels with a speed of 12.5 km/hr. After every 12.5 km, he takes a rest of 20 minutes. How much time will he take to complete the whole distance?

    A) 4hrs 20 min

    B) 5hrs 20 min

    C) 5hrs

    D)          6hrs

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Time taken to travel \[50\,km=\frac{50}{12.5}\,hrs\,=4\,hrs\]. Number of stoppages \[=\frac{50}{12.5}-1=3\] \[\therefore \] Total duration of stoppages \[=(3\times 20)\] min = 60 min = 1 hrs. \[\therefore \] Total time to complete the whole distance = 5 hrs.
