Firoz shah imposed Jaziya on Brahmins. The Arabs, more specifically, the Umayyad general Muhammad-bin-Qasim, introduced the Jaziya in India in 712 A.D. when he conquered Sind. In India, Islamic rulers Qutb-ud-din Aibak imposed Jaziya on non-Muslims first time which was called kliaraj-o-Jaziya. Jaziya was abolished by the Mughal ruler Akbar in 16th century but was re-introduced by Aurangzeb in 17th century.
