In that hut lived a girl named Karuna Every day, she went into the jungle to collect fruits and plants to make medicines. Her grandmother had been a vaid and had taught her to make many different kinds of medicines. Every day, she gathered a few flowers, making sure to leave most of them on the trees and bushes. "What a fool you are!" the villagers said "If you were to pluck more flowers and dig out more plants, you would make a lot of money." "The birds and the bees need them too, for their food," she said "If I take away most of the flowers, what will they eat?"
