Find the third vertex of the triangle whose two vertices are (-3, 1) and (0, -2) and the centroid is the origin.

    A)  \[(2,3)\]

    B)  \[\left( \frac{-4}{3},\frac{14}{3} \right)\]

    C)  \[(3,1)\]

    D)  \[(6,4)\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    (c): Centroid is O (0, 0). Applying formula for Centroid, we get,   \[O\left( \frac{-3+0+x}{3},\frac{1-2+y}{3} \right)\] \[\therefore \] \[\frac{-3+0+x}{3}=0\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[x=3\]; and \[\frac{1-2+y}{3}=0\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[y=1\] \[\therefore \] Third vertex is (3, 1)
