  • question_answer
When 100 ml of 1M \[NaOH\] solution is mixed with 10 ml of 10 M \[{{H}_{2}}S{{O}_{4}},\] the resulting mixture will be [AMU 2002]

    A)                 Acidic

    B)                 Alkaline

    C)                 Neutral

    D)                 Strongly alkaline

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

               \[{{N}_{NaOH}}=1\times 1=1N\]                    \[{{N}_{{{H}_{2}}S{{O}_{4}}}}=2\times 10=20N\]                    M.eq. of NaOH \[=1\times 100=100\]                    M.eq. of \[{{H}_{2}}SO4=20\times 10=200\]                                 Thus M.eq. of acid are left and therefore pH< 7, so the resulting mixture will be acidic.
