      Ionic solids : Refer ans. 3(1). Properties of ionic solids (a) Ionic solids are hard but brittle in nature. (b) They have high melting points and boiling points. (c) In these solids neither ions are free to move nor they have free electrons, hence these are electrical insulators. Examples: Sodium chloride  Zinc sulphide  etc.
