    Answer:

      The molecular species or substance which accumulates at the surface is termed as adsorbate.     The material on the surface of which adsorption take place is called adsorbent. e.g. adsorption of gases like etc. by powdered charcoal. Here gases are adsorbate and charcoal is an adsorbent.
