Amines are less soluble in water than alcohols. Why?

    Answer:

In alcohol molecules oxygen atom is present and in amine nitrogen atom is present. We know that electro negativity of oxygen is greater (3.5) than nitrogen (3.0). Hence alcohol molecules form H-bond with water molecules more strongly than amines and therefore solubility of amine is less than alcohol.
