Is the angular speed of rotation of hour hand of a watch greater or smaller than the angular velocity of earth's rotation about its axis?

    Answer:

The hour hand of a watch takes 12 h to complete one rotation i.e. \[{{T}_{1}}=12hour\]. And the earth takes 24 hours to rotate once around its axis, i.e. \[{{T}_{2}}=12hour\]. As           \[\omega =\frac{2\pi }{T}\]         and       \[{{T}_{1}}<{{T}_{2}}\]                                   \[\therefore \] \[{{\omega }_{1}}>{{\omega }_{2}}\] i.e., angular speed of hour hand is greater than the angular velocity of earth around its axis.
