    Answer:

                    The mixture is shaken with a dilute solution of \[NaHC{{O}_{3}}\] and extracted with ether or chloroform when nitrobenzene goes into the organic layer. Distillation of the solvent gives nitrobenzene. The filtrate is acidified with dil. \[HCl\] when benzoic acid gets precipitated. The solution is cooled and benzoic acid is obtained by filtration.
