Unsaturated compounds undergo addition reactions. Explain.

    Answer:

Unsaturation in the organic compounds is due to the presence of one or more double or triple bonds which contain \[\pi \]-bonds. Since these bonds are formed as a result of sidewise overlap, they are, therefore, weak. They can easily change to stable \[\sigma \]-bonds and this happens in the addition reactions. Therefore, unsaturated compounds take part in the addition reactions.
