Ground water is depleting day by day, rivers are now toxicated and rain water harvesting is a very small proportion to the requirement of fresh water to sustain the ecology. In near future there will be a pan India ecological crisis. Do you agree with this conclusion? Justify your argument?

    Answer:

The above concern of depletion of ground water, pollution of river water is true and simultaneously the rain water harvesting is also a very small portion to the requirement. The future is in stake of course. Rain water harvesting may only sustain the human being but it cannot sustain the ecology. As ground water is depleting it affects the plant or fauna in the region as they also depend on this ground water. River water is polluted now and in some occasions rivers are biologically dead that could not sustain life anymore. Many major rivers are polluted, almost all small rivers are toxicated that put huge pressure on aquatic ecosystem. Often this contaminated water pollute the flood plain and ground water underneath during flood and create much disease and health hazards to both flora and fauna. Human being may arrange a short term solution to the ecological crisis but in long term it will affect them as they are also a part of the ecology. The situation is quite serious throughout India and may bring Pan-India ecological crisis if proper conservation strategies are not taken to reduce such pressure on fresh water.
