       (a) Distinguish between sectional interest groups and public interest groups. (b)What values you have learnt from the working of public interest groups?

    Answer:

                      (a) Sectional interest groups seek to promote the interest of a particular section of a society. Trade unions, business association and professional bodies are some important examples of sectional interest groups. They are sectional because they represent a particular section of society and work for the betterment and well-being of their members. On the other hand, public interest groups represent some common or general interest that needs to be defended. They promote collective rather than selective good. The members of the organisation may not benefit from the cause that the organisation represents as they aim to help groups other than their own members. For example, a group fighting against child labour not for itself, but for those children, who are suffering from this menace. The principal concern of this group is social justice and social equality for all children. (b) From the working of public interest groups, I have learnt the values like cooperation, team spirit and self-reliance.
