  Steps to develop a website

P:    A domain name makes up the address of your website and can end in. com, .net, .org, .info, .us, .biz, .t v and many more. Throughout this site you may also see the domain name referred to as the 'dot com name'. Once you have registered your name, you will select a web host. The web host is the guts of any website because this is where you create and publish your pages, build order forms, add functionality and maintain your site.

Q:    Create a website development plan that is integrated with your overall marketing processes; the content should be consistent with offline materials, the graphics/images should be web friendly and consistent with your overall branding, style guide, usage of colors, etc. A decent design is what you need.

R:    Pay attention to 'load times', how long it takes a website to load on a 56 kbps modem (this is a n industry average), if its more than 12-18 seconds you may experience the 'click of death' - the site doesn't load quickly and the surfer is gone. Of course if you are targeting broadband customers who are reaching your site via ISDN, DSL or Cable modem then you can build a website that incorporates multimedia-ready content: that may include streaming audio or video, Shockwave or Flash capabilities.

S:    Develop content that is web-enabled, people don't read website content like they do in offline media, keep your paragraphs short, no more than two to three sentences. Ensure your site is optimized for Search Engines by identifying 8-12 keywords that people will use to find your site, then incorporate these keywords in your site content to drive relevancy with search engine spiders/bots and then get lots of links to your site. It is estimated as much as 70% of all traffic to most website comes through search engine.

Steps to accomplish a project successfully

P:    Set some time aside each day to work on your project. Forward progress is what counts and it provides the positive feedback to keep you going. Continue on down your list and celebrate your milestones. Don't be afraid of midcourse corrections if necessary. If you stay away from working on a project for too long of a time, it gets harder and Harder to get back to it.

Q:    Have a picture in your mind and a vision of what the product will look like and the feelings you will have when it is complete. Break the project into manageable tasks. It's easy to get overwhelmed if you are starting from scratch. This will help you avoid procrastination, and give you positive feedback at the end of each step. The size of the tasks will depend on your working style and the size of the available time slots.

R:    Deadlines are important, even if you have to modify them as the project progresses. Goals are dreams with deadlines. If you don't have a deadline to get your product to market, you are just daydreaming. Get started. One of my favorite quotes is from Goethe 'Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it; boldness has genius, power and magic in it.

S:    Determine the scope of the project. The first and foremost step is to form the determination what you want to accomplish. What are the limits within which you will develop your product? There are two things which must be taken care of: Who is your audience and what would you like them to do after they view or listen to this program? Answers to these two questions will go a long way to' defining the scope and structure of your product.

Necessary details regarding name, address, occupation and other details must be filled in wherever required. Two or three specimen signatures are required on the specimen signature card. If the account is opened in joint names, then the form must be signed jointly. Nowadays, the banks ask the applicant to submit copies of his latest photograph for the purpose of his identification.

Q:    The bank officer will verify your bank account opening form. He checks whether the form is complete in all respects or not. After getting the proposal form cleared, the necessary amount is deposited in the bank. After depositing the initial money, the bank provides a pass book, a cheque book and pay in slip book in the case of savings account.

R:    Decide the type of bank account you want to open. There are several types of bank accounts such as Saving Account, Recurring Account, Fixed Deposit Account and Current Account. Approach any bank of choice and meet the bank officer. Once the type of account is decided, the person should talk to the bank officer and request for opening the account. The bank officer will provide a proposal form (Account Opening Form) to open the bank account.

S:    Give References for Opening your Bank Account. The bank normally required references or introduction of the prospective account holder by any of the existing account holders for that type of account. The introducer introduces by signing his specimen signature in the column meant for the purpose. The duly filled in proposal form must be submitted to the bank along with necessary documents.
