ANIMAL LIFE

 

 

FUNDAMENTALS

  •                      There are many kinds of animals around us. Some are big. Some are small. Some of them live in forests, some live with human beings, some fly in air, some swim in water etc.
  •                     Wild animals are animals that live in forests. They eat grass and flesh of other animals. Tiger is a wild animal which has been declared as the national animal of India by the Indian government. Some of the wild animals harm us and some of them do not.

e.g., Lion, tiger, cheetahs, wolf, bear etc.

  •                     Domestic animals are the animals that have been tamed and kept by human beings as a work animal, food source or pet. Men keep them for milk, food, riding hunting, tilling the land and for many other useful services.

The cow is the most useful of all the domestic animals, It gives us milk. It is the principal food for babies and sick people.

  •                   Water Animals\[\to \] The animals which live in water are called water animals. They may be big or small. These animals are found in deep water bodies such as seas, ocean etc. Fishes live in water. They breath with help of gills e.g., shark whale, dolphin, crocodile, octopus etc.

         

  •                    Farm Animals\[\to \] Farm animals live in a farm so we can use their products. We use their flesh, wool skin etc. for various purpose. They are also called domestic animals these animals are used as dairy animals, poultry animals, meat producing animals and some are used for transportation. Dairy animals include cow, buffalo, goat etc. Other farm animals are sheep, pig, horse, donkey etc.

 

  •                      Milch Animals\[\to \] Animals which give milk are called milch animals. They are domestic animals e.g., cow, buffalo goat, cannel etc.

 

INSECTS        

Insects are small animals. They do not have backbone. Insects play vital role in keeping our ecosystem healthy. Insects make up approximately three quarters of animals species on earth. The number of insect species is believed six to be between six to ten million. Most insects hatch from eggs. The life cycle of a mosquito features four stages, egg larva, pupa and adult. Female mosquito drink blood in order to nutrients needed to produce egg. Silkworms are used as the primary producer of silk e.g., flies e.g. butterfly, mosquito etc.

          

 

REPTILES

           Reptiles are animals that?s lay eggs and their skin is covered with hard, dry scales. They crawl or move on their small short legs. Snakes are legless reptiles, they move on their scales and lizards move on their small and short legs, Reptiles have car holes and four legs or no legs and are cold blooded, e.g., snakes, crocodiles, alligators, turtles and lizards.

 BIRDS

Birds have feathers and things. They lay eggs. They have two legs and a beak. They have car holes instead of ears Birds are warm blooded. Birds some are small such as humming birds, while others are big such as ostrich?s etc. Different type of birds eat different things. Some birds feed on plants, some birds eat insects and some other animals like fish, snakes or rodents. e.g., parrot, sparrow, crow, crane, etc.

 

FISH

           Fishes lives in water and have gills, fins and scaly body for swimming. They have a backbone they breathe mainly by means of gills. e.g., goldfish, shark, dolphin etc.
