When do we use capital letters?

 

1.            We always use a capital letter to start a new sentence. For example:

  •            I am a boy.
  •           She is a girl.

2.            We always use a capital letter after '.' '?', '!' or ':'. For example:

  •           Wow! This is a lovely dress.
  •           My name is Tuffy. I am) two-year-old

3.            When we write a new sentence, the first letter of the first word is always capital. For example:

  •            This is a tree.
  •           The cat is sleeping".

4.            The first letter of the name of a person, a country or a state is always capital. For example:

  •            I live in India.
  •           Her name is Tina.

5.            When the letter 'I' is written alone, it is always capital. For example:

  •           Tom and I are playing.

6.            Capital letters are also called uppercase letters.

 

When do we use small letters?

 

1.            We never use a small letter to start a new   sentence. For example:

  •               i am a boy.  
  •              I am a boy. √

2.            We never use a small letter after '.', '?', '!', ':'.   

            For example:

  •            Wow! this is a lovely dress. 
  •             Wow! This is a lovely dress.

3.            The first letter of the name of a person, a country or a state is never small. Only the letters after the first letter are small. For example:  

  •            I live in india. 
  •            I live in India.

4.            Small letters are also called lowercase letters.
