Analogy is likeness or similarity between two things on the basis of which we can make a comparison.

Delhi     ⇒       Red Fort

In the above example: Taj Mahal in Agra and Red Fort in Delhi show us the relation between monuments and places.  

 

*      Look at some other examples:  

 

(i) If Patna is to Bihar then Kolkata is to _____.

Solution:

Patna is the capital of Bihar and Kolkata is the capital of West Bengal. So the answer is West Bengal.  

 

(ii) Doctor is related to patient in the same way carpenter is related to______.

Solution:

Doctor treats the patient. Doctor working area is patient in the same way carpenter's working area is furniture. So the answer is furniture.  

 

(iii) If teacher is to school then Librarian is to _____.

Solution:

Teacher works in the school and Librarian works in the Library. So the answer is library.  

 

(iv) Hand is to gloves in the same way Head is to _____.

Solution:

Glove is worn in hand in the same way cap is worn in head.
