TYPE-II

Arrange The Given Words In Dictionary Order

A student is required to arrange the words in an alphabetical order as they occur in dictionary.

TYPE-III

Formation Of A Word From The Letters Of A Given Word

To form a word from the given letters, we can take each letter almost as many times as the given word consists of it.

TYPE-IV

LOGICAL SEQUENCE OF WORDS

Every event on the earth happens stage by stage. For example, the life line of a human being occurs in the sequence; Birth, Kid, Youth, Adult, Old and Death.

To arrange the elements of a given set in a meaningful order is called logical sequence.

EXAMPLE

1.         In the words given in options, choose the one that comes first, when arranged in alphabetical order as in a dictionary.

            (a) Bold                         (b) Bangle

            (c) Bank                        (d) Border

Explanation (b):

Arranging the words in alphabetical order, we have Bangle, Bank, Bold, Border.

Clearly, the word 'Bangle' comes in first place.

2.         Number of letters skipped in between adjacent letters in the series decrease by two.  Which of the following series observes this rule?

            (a) EPVAF                                 (b) GPWBE

            (c) UCJOP                                 (d) XFMQU

Explanation: (b)

Let us consider option (b).

3.         Which of the following words cannot be formed by using the letters of given word?

             INTRANSIGENT

            (a) STAIN,                                 (b) TRAIN

            (c) RESIGN                              (d) TRACE

Explanation: (d)

TRACE contains the letter 'C' but INTRANSIGENT does not.

So, TRACE cannot be formed.

4.         Arrange the following words in a meaningful order.

1. Death           2. Marriage        3. Education       4. Birth     5. Funeral

            (a) 5, 1, 2, 3, 4               (b) 4, 2, 3, 1, 5

            (c) 4, 3, 2, 1, 5               (d) 4, 3, 2, 5, 1

Explanation: (c)

First of all a man is born then he takes education; after this he gets married.

Then after sometimes he dies. After death, there is Funeral.

So, the correct order is 4, 3, 2, 1 and 5.
