    Show the following numbers on the number line. (a) 0.2 (b) 1.9 (c) 1.1 (d) 2.5

    Answer:

    (a) We know that, 0.2 is more than 0 but less than 1. There are 2 tenths in it. Divide the unit length between 0 and 1 on the number line into 10 equal parts and take 2 parts, which represent 0.2 as shown below on the number line. In the figure, point A shows 0.2. (b) We know that, 1.9 is more than 1 but less than 2. There are one ones and 9 tenths in it. Divide the unit length between 0 and 1, 1 and 2 on the number line into 10 equal parts and take 9 parts, which represents 1.9 = (1 + 0.9) as shown below on the number line. In the figure, point B shows 1.9. (c) We know that, 1.1 is more than 1 but less than 2. There are one ones and one-tenths in. it. Divide the unit length between 0 and 1, 1 and 2 on the number line into 10 equal parts, and take 1 part which represents 1.1 = (1 + 0.1) as shown below on the number line. In the figure, point C shows 1.1. (d) We know that, 2.5 is more than 2 but less than 3. There are 2 ones and 5 tenths in it. Divide the unit length between 0 and 1, 1 and 2, 2 and 3 into 10 equal parts and take 5 parts, which represents 2.5 = (2 + 0.5) as shown below on the number line. In the figure, point D shows 2.5.
