     Name the factors influencing agriculture?

    Answer:

Shifting cultivation/agriculture is generally practiced in the thickly forested areas of Amazon basin. Tropical Africa, S.E. Asia and N. E. India (Assam Region). These areas have heavy rainfall and quick regeneration of natural vegetation. Therefore no land for agriculture. In these areas a plot of land is cleared, trees are burnt there to make soil fertile. Then crops are grown for 2/3 years on this plot. The nomadic berdmen and farmers leave the land once it has lost its fertility. Afterwards they shift to another plot. This is called slash and bum agriculture. The disadvantage from this type of agriculture is deforestation — the valuable plant life is being destroyed.
