    In your view, what motivates the youngsters to take to alcohol or drugs and how can this be avoided? 

    Answer:

    (a) Main motivating factors which stimulate the youngsters to take to alcohol or drug are: (i) Peer pressure (ii) Desire for excitement (iii) Liking of taste (iv) To escape from frustrations (v) Family's history (vi) Curiosity due to advertisements (vii) False belief of enhanced performance (viii) To overcome the hardships of daily life. (b) Alcohol or drug abuse can be avoided by: (i) To identify the reason of addiction and to take remedial measures. (ii) Avoid undue peer pressure. (iii) By giving proper education and counselling to the addict. (iv) Seeking help from parents, teachers and trusted friends. (v) Seeking professional and medical help.
