    The three basic sources of generating power are (i) Thermal sources like coal (ii) Hydel (Hydro) and wind power (iii) Nuclear power or atomic energy In India, in 2010-11, thermal sources accounted for almost 65% of the power generation capacity. Hydel and wind power accounted for 32.5% while nuclear power accounted only for 2.5%.
