How is excessive content of \[C{{O}_{2}}\] responsible for global warming?

    Answer:

\[C{{O}_{2}}\] in the atmosphere is utilised by plants during photosynthesis process and in this process \[{{O}_{2}}\] is released to atmosphere, photosynthesis is responsible for maintaining a constant percentage of 21%\[{{O}_{2}}\] in the atmosphere. However, when the concentration of \[C{{O}_{2}}\]increases beyond a certain level on account of excessive combustion of carbon materials, part of \[C{{O}_{2}}\]\[C{{O}_{2}}\]remains unutilized in the atmosphere. \[C{{O}_{2}}\]being heavier than air remain near the earth and the heat energy radiated by the earth is absorbed by it. Some of the heat energy is dissipated into atmosphere and rest is radiated back to the earth and other bodies present on the earth. Consequently, temperature of the earth and other bodies on the earth increases. This is called greenhouse effect. Greenhouse effect is responsible for global warming.
