11th Class Chemistry States of Matter / पदार्थ की अवस्थाएँ - गैस एवं द्रव

  • question_answer 52)
Two different gases 'A' and 'B' are filled in separate containers of equal capacity under the same conditions of temperature and pressure. On increasing the pressureslightly the gas 'A' liquefies but gas 'B' does not liquefy even on applying high pressure until it is cooled. Explain this phenomenon.

    Answer:

A gas can be liquefied on applying pressure, only when it is cooled below its critical temperature. Then, gas B does not liquefy on applying pressure because its temperature should be above critical point.
