    Answer:

    (i) Caustic soda: It is used in: (i) petroleum refining, manufacture of soap, paper and rayon, manufacture of dyes and drugs and in the purification of bauxite ore (ii) in the manufacture of sodium hypochlorite, sodium chlorate and as a reagent in the laboratory. It is also used in textile industry. (ii) Sodium carbonate: It is used : (i) in laundries and in softening of water (ii) in the manufacture of glass, sodium silicate, paper, borax, caustic soda and as a laboratory reagent. (iii) Quick lime: It is used (i) in the purification of sugar, in the manufacture of caustic soda and dyestuffs, (ii) as a cheap alkali, i.e., as acid neutraliser.
