11th Class Chemistry Hydrogen & Its Compounds / हाइड्रोजन और इसके यौगिक

  • question_answer 1)
Why does hydrogen occur in diatomic form rather than in mono-atomic form under normal conditions?

    Answer:

Hydrogen atom has configuration \[1{{s}^{1}}\]i.e., one electron less than the stable inert gas configuration of helium. Hence, to achieve a stable state, it shares its electron with electron of another hydrogen atom, i.e., forms a diatomic molecule.
