What effect does branching of an alkane chain hason its boiling point?

    Answer:

Branching of carbon chain decreases the boiling point of alkane. As the molecular size decreases inthe series, the surface area decreases, therefore vander Waals' forces of attraction are minimum and hence the boiling point of an alkane decreases with branching.
