To The Editor,

The Hindustan Times,

New Delhi

Sir,

I travelled recently from New Delhi to Howrah by the Poorva Express on III Tier AC and had faced tremendous inconveniences all throughout the journey. I fail to bring into your account the description of the mess that I experienced. In fact, don't have the language to describe them in sequence.

According to the Northern Railways, there was no room for current bookings as all the seats of the train were reserved. However, I found that at least 10 passengers, who had no reservations, were allowed to get into our compartment. Although the TTE came and asked about their tickets, but did not check the tickets actually. I doubt if they are the kith and kins of the TTE. As far as my knowledge is concerned, nobody is entitled to get into an AC compartment without a proper confirmed ticket.

I saw hawkers, beggars, shoeshine boys and vendors moving freely in the compartment, much to the discomfort of passengers with reserved accommodation. I fail to understand how the ticket examiners allow all this to happen in a superfast train like Poorva Express.

Yours faithfully,

Parimal Sen

Dear Mr. Jalhotra,

On behalf of our organization, I offer my gratitude and thanks for serving as one of our judges in the recent Art Contest that we held for children who are cancer patients. The activity was a success because of the active participation of all the staff, volunteers, participants, and professionals that we invited as speakers and judges. Because of your presence, we were able to bring joy and hope to the children who are suffering from a life-threatening disease. Their artworks depicted the sadness and fear that they are feeling but also showed how optimistic and hopeful they are about having a better future. We have given them something to be happy about in their daily lives as we have spurred their interest in the arts and also showed them that they are very talented. Again, thank you and we look forward to having you again as one of our guests in our upcoming activities.

Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Kudesia,

I bought a refrigerator from your store last week and I would like to complain about the condition of the new refrigerator. I have been using it for only a week and it is already malfunctioning. The refrigerator does not get cold enough and the freezer cannot make ice. I have checked the regulator and turned it to the highest mark, but could not feel the chill after half an hour. The product brochure also states that it instantly defrosts but it does not do this. The refrigerator has a one-year warranty and I want to have it replaced as soon as possible. As per the warranty, I can also avail of my money back in case I am not satisfied with the product replacement. I have attached the receipt and warranty for your reference. I hope you would promptly look into this matter. I have been a regular customer of your store for many years now and this is the first time I have been dissatisfied with your product.

Sincerely,

Ms. Priyal Kudesia
