Dr. Manmohan Singh, born on Sep. 1932 at Gah in West Punjab (now in Pakistan) had completed his M.A., Phil, from Oxford University and D. Lilt. From Honoris Cause University. For his brilliant-career he was appointed as a senior lecturer in Economic ices at Punjab University, (Chandigarh only at the age of 25. In 1969 he became the Professor of International Trade in Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University. He also enjoyed the post of Governor, Reserve Bank of India. And so far his political careers concerned, he came to politics in June 1991 and became Union Minister for Finance. During his tenure he achieved great popularity because of his sincerity and foresightedness. He has al-ways been considered as man of extreme simplicity and pure integrity-

For the first time when he was elected the leader of the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Coalition to rule the country I n 2004 People were amazed. It was a critical situation because Mrs. Sonia Gandhi had declined to become PM and none of the leaders were in position to be a consensus candidate. However, Dr. Singh took oath on 23rd May 2004; He proved all political calculations wrong by running the government for a full term despite many doubts about his credentials.

Some of his biggest achievements are Nuclear deal, opening of new avenues in education, economic    growth etc. On the issue of nuclear deal he had put his government at stake due to the withdrawal of support from CPM, one of the partners in government But he managed to survive his government. Then the schedules for the 15th general elections were announced. The Congress Party again promoted his name as the next PM if it comes to power, the opposition leader Mr. L.K. Advani who was the projected Condi date for PM's bort from NDA termed Dr. Sing as the weakest Prime Minister of the county. He was also called us mouthpiece of Mrs. Sonia Gandhi- Even the UPA part- ners like NCP, RJD and CPM opposed his projection. But all predictions failed when Congress emerged as the largest party and all the Parties other then BJP and its partners extended support to congress. Dr. Manmohan Singh again took oath for the PM's post on 22th May 2009. He became the second after Nehru to complete his tenure in full and to begin his next term in office.

It is believed that the victory of Manmohan Singh is all due to his confident dealing with the critical situation He was always calm and sincere to his duties. His government faced a lot of terrorist attacks. Reservation issue also was challenging, but development and stability counted most and he again came to govern the country. He had never been in any controversy. Once thought to be a mismatch in politics is now the most suitable and mature Prime Minister in this crucial hour.

He has started his second term with more confidence and more challenging agenda like recession, development, terrorism, economic growth etc. This time he is sure to do much better as there is no pressure of being in danger. His coalition partners are not obliging him but he is obliging them by keeping them with him. Hence we hope for better days ahead.
