Rajasthan Pre Engineering Test R-PET is conducted by Rajasthan Technical University, KOTA on behalf of the Board of Technical Education, Rajasthan. The Test is conducted every year for admission into the undergraduate programs (BE/B. Tech) of the Engineering Colleges of the Rajasthan. Both the government aided and private unaided technical institutes of the State accept the merit ranking of R-PET for admitting students into their various programs. However, BITS Pilani, MNIT Jaipur and other deemed universities do not accept R-PET merit ranking and takes their own test for admission.
The Rajasthan Technical University has been set up in 2005 by the Govt. of Rajasthan to enhance technical education in the State. The University is intended to provide quality technical education which can help Rajasthan in its technical development and would boost technical environment of the country as a whole. The University aims to cater almost all discipline related to technical education. At present, 60 Engineering Colleges, 08 M. Tech Colleges, 21 MCA Colleges, 69 MBA Colleges and 3 Hotel Management and Catering Institute are affiliated to the University.
R-PET is open to the candidates of Rajasthan Domicile only. All the students who have passed or have appeared in their class 12th exam in science stream with Physics & Math’s as compulsory subjects are allowed to appear in the test, provided they fulfill other specified eligibility criteria. The test is an objective type (MCQ) exam of 3 hours duration, and is held at 21 centers across the state.
At present there are 32,188 engineering seats in Rajasthan, taking together both government & private, offering studies in various branches of engineering. Of these 3643 are government seats and rests (28545) are private.
The admissions to all these seats are carried out strictly on the basis of merit in R-PET. The allotment of institute and branch are generally done through the computer software, taking into consideration the order of options filled in by the candidates in the Option Form, and the seats available. In case of any other mode of counseling, separate instructions / guide lines will be provided to the students through Newspapers, Website etc.
Candidates are to report to the allotted Institutes within specified date. At the time of reporting they have to "deposit all original documents, certificates and a specified amount towards fee. The candidate's allotment shall stand automatically cancelled if he/she does not report IN PERSONS the allotted institute as per schedule. However, admission of the candidate will be provisional till the eligibility certificate is issued by the concerned University.

As prescribed by the Govt. of Rajasthan (except in case of Private unaided Institutions and 50% seats in the self finance course of the aided institutions) the reservation of seats are made as per the rules of the State Government of Rajasthan, which is as follows:

• Provision will also be made for horizontal reservation of 3% for candidates belonging to physically handicap;
• 25% for women category; and
• 3% for dependants of Defense Killed/ Ex-servicemen / Gallantry award winners.
• 5% of total intake capacity over and above the sanctioned strength in each of the institutions will be reserved for Kashmiri migrants.

• The fee once deposited by the candidate for admission will not be refunded.
• Depending upon the option given by the institute(s) for adopting the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS), benefits of TFWS will be provides to eligible candidates as per AICTE guidelines.
1. Candidates must be a domicile of Rajasthan.
2. Sons/daughter of the displaced persons from Jammu & Kashmir are also eligible.
3. Must be 17 years of age. However, age bar is relaxable up to 5 yr in case of SC/ST/PH.
4. Must be a pass in the final examination of 10+2 (Class XII) of Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan or any other examination recognized equivalent thereto by Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan.
5. Must have passed 10+2 with Physics & Mathematics as compulsory subjects, and Chemistry/Biotechnology/Computer Science / Biology as optional.
6. Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination (class XII) in the current year will be provisionally permitted to appear in R-PET.
Note: A candidate desirous of admission to Engineering Colleges will have to deposit the Medical Fitness Certificate at the time of reporting in the allotted institution on the prescribed form certified by a Medical Officer of the Government of Rajasthan or a Registered Medical Practitioner as per medical standards laid down for the purpose.
Application Form can be obtained from the designated branches of U.C.O. Bank on payment of prescribed amount.

• The same can also be availed from designated Government Polytechnic Colleges;
• The Form can be downloaded from the official website: http://www.techedu.rajasthan.gov.in.
• The Form has to be filled up by the candidates using BLACK BALL POINT PEN ONLY in their own handwriting.
• Duly filled R-PET OMR Application Form (with all enclosures) can be submitted by any one of the following options:
(i) By Registered Post/ Speed Post (not by courier in any case) to Coordinator R-PET - 2012, Board of Technical Education, Rajasthan, W-6, Residency Road, Jodhpur-342 032.
(ii) In the drop box placed at the R-PET office.
Note: In any case, the Application Form should not be handed over to any other person. No other institute/agency is authorized to collect the form on behalf of R-PET.

Admission Card for R-PET is usually sent to the candidate at his/her address as mentioned in R- PET Application Form. In case the original Admission Card is lost, its duplicate copy may be obtained on request in writing, from the Centre Superintendent, on payment of a fee and on submitting two copies of pass port size photograph similar to that pasted on Admission/application form.
R-PET is a single stage examination of objective type, MCQ pattern questionnaire. The test is held on Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics on prescribed syllabus of the Board of Technical Education, Rajasthan. The paper consists of 40 questions on each of the subjects of PCM, 120 questions in total. Candidates need to mark their answers in OMR sheet, in BLACK BALL POINT PEN only. For every correct answer 1 mark is awarded, and there is no negative mark for wrong answer. The question paper is set both in Hindi & English. However, in case of any difference in Hindi & English versions of question, the questions in English version shall be treated as valid. The duration of the exam is 3 hours.

Merit list will be prepared on the basis of the total marks obtained by the candidates in R-PET. Cut off Percentage will be decided by the Centralized Admission Coordination Committee (CACC) before declaration of result. However, Percentage of passing for SC & ST candidates will be 5% less than that for other categories. In the event if vacancies exist in SC / ST category. the vacancies of 3C category can be filled by ST candidates and vice versa. In case of a tie between two candidates, inter-se merit will be determined as follows:
• The marks obtained in Mathematics in R-PET;
• Marks obtained in Physics in R-PET;
• Candidates with older age.
The merit of a candidate in R-PET will be conveyed through newspaper, website and notice board of R-PET. The marks sheet shall be dispatched by post, soon after the publication of R-PET merit list.
