Everybody has one or the other memorable incident of his/her life This particular incident takes such serious turn that it is long remembered in later life. The significance of the happening is so vital and important  that sometimes it changes the very course of one's life. Some incidents are so important that they become a part and parcel of our life. We cannot  forget them. They remain very much in the focus of our life, that we  on them day-in and day-out. There are others who are of passing interest  to us, but may be particular and special to someone else.
Some incidents of day to day life influence our character and future course of life. We always remember such events. A memorable incident is  worth-remembering invariably (always). Here is such an interesting, never to be forgotten incident. It has left an indelible (never to be removed and rubbed)  imprint on my mind.
There was one Gopal. He was a student of Eighth Standard. His class was given an essay on 'Our School' to be written. Gopal also wrote it. But any how he spoke ill of the school secretary literary club. Unluckily it was I who was acting as the secretary of the said club. He had written nonsense His essay was full of rubbish and was filthy in language. The literary  club  was bent upon taking him to task. It reported the matter to the Principal  The Principal gave a deep thought to the matter. He took a serious view of  it. He was determined to take a stem-action against Gopal.    The matter took a turn for the worse when Gopal in his  haughtiness  abused the secretary. Senior students wanted to teach him a lesson by beating him black and blue. The tempers rose high. Each one was flared  up. There was a danger of lawlessness. The whole school was divided into  powerful groups of students. The very discipline and decorum of the  institution was at stake. The senior members of the staff called an emergency  meeting. The Principal presided the meeting. It was decided that the  sides be heard patiently. Gopal was called in. He was adamant. He was iirl repentant. This attitude of the chap annoyed the whole faculty. No doubt Gopal was the son of an M.L.A. of the area. He was time and again Irld that he was in the wrong, but every time he said that he was right.
Now it was my turn. The Principal saw that I was not at fault at all. Morecover, I was extremely popular as a secretary. My work and conduct w.is blotless. The decision depended upon my pronouncement. When my respected teachers asked me what I wanted to settle score with Gopal, I at once replied : "Please excuse him, saying when he (Gopal) realizes his blunder, he will repent on his folly." This influenced not only all my teachers lint also my enemy, Gopal and his party. This friendly gesture from my side had won my enemy's heart. He was simply touched. There was a  sudden change of heart in him. He came to me. He gave me a warm shake hand
The Principal and all others, present there were highly impressed by my sense of love and true affection even for my enemies. The foe, Gopal became a fast friend. This episode won a great honour for me in the eyes of my opponents.
This incident occurred ten years back. But it is still fresh in my mind. Once I was coming out of the college library where I was a lecturer. I met Gopal the same old chap of 8th class who wrote an essay on 'Our School' mid had called me names unintentionally (unknowingly). He was today embraced lecturer in the faculty of English. We had met by chance. I embraced him. I took him to the college canteen. Both of us exchanged ideas, remembered by gone things. But one thing that memorable event of ten years ago was fresh in his mind. It looked to both of us that the incident
of  school days was evergreen. Although it was quite common place, there was  something in it which was of special interest only to both of us.
