It is rightly said that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. A student who goes on studying day and night, gate himself reduced to a skeleton. He may shine in studies and win many prizes and scholarships, but without good health, he cannot get real success and happiness in life.

A healthy pauper is happier than an unhealthy billionaire or than one as learned as Socrates. Therefore, Even if studies are important, sports have their ownvalue.

Sports provide us the exercise which is necessary andimportant for health and life. They also make us Mentally alert and thus we can concentrate more on any subject.

When we are in the field, we have to play keeping inmind all the rules of the play. Thus, we learn the Importance of discipline.

In the field, we have to be alert and practical. In this way, we learn how to act in a practical way in life.

In the playground, we also imbibe certain positivevirtues such as team-spirit, sportsmanship, qualities of Leadership, taking success and failure with equal equanimity, etc.

Sports and games must be played for the sake of game and not just for success. Of course, we must aspire and make strenuous efforts to get success, but we must not try to defeat our rivals by underhand methods.

In the modern times, the value of sports has been grealty recognized. We have so many sports clubs .and organizations at local, state, national and internationallevel. We have sports ministry at the centre.

So far, India has not been a great sports nation in the world. Our performance at the Olympiads has often been dismal. In recent times, our teams in several spheres have shown some improvement. Let us hope India will become a great country even in the field of sports in the near future.
