Category : Essays

The 15th August is a red letter day in the history of India. It was on this day in 1947 that India won her freedom after nearly on early one hundred and fifty years of British rule. The Independence Day is, therefore, celebrated with great rejoicing all over the country. On this day Pt. Nehru unfurled the National Flag at the Red Fort. Henceforth it is celebrated all over India every year. On this day our Prime Minister addresses the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort. After the Flag hoisting ceremony, the National Anthem is sung. It fills the countrymen with new enthusiasm. In New Delhi, the capital of India, Independence Day is celebrated with great pomp and show. It is a public holiday. But this day should also serve to remind us of the various problems that face India. It should inspire us and give us courage to follow the noble path shown by the Father of the Nation who won freedom for us.
