THE SEOUL OLYMPIC GAMES 1988

Introduction. The Seoul Olympic Games was the words most spectacular sports festival. It was the best Olympiad. Its opening ceremony took place at 10.30 am on Saturday, September 17, at the 1, 00,000 capacity Olympic stadium at Seoul, the capital city of Republic of Korea. This sports festival concluded on October 2, when it was formally declared closed by the international Olympic committee president Juan Antonio Samaranch.

The Games. The heroic performances began in the arena of soul Olympiad for 16 days. New Olympics and world records were made. New stars sparked. Among the new stars to touch the horizon was Kristin Otton of east germane. He won about half a dozen gold medals in swimming. Two more were won by another woman in the Olympic history and she made her name immortalized for many years to come in the record books of Games. The glory in pools was shared with her by Matt Biondi who with five gold’s, one silver and one silver and one bronze cash, won seven medals in all. He resorted the lost glory to the United States with his one man show.

Athelitics. Athelitics has always been the centre of attraction in the Olympic at Seoul there was no exception. Athelitics provide all the excitement and us and downs for which Olympics are remembered. It provided glories and also a matter of shame. The big been Jonson of Canada was bailed welcomed as the fattest man on the earth. When he won the man’s 100 meter race in 9.79 seconds, he made the new world record. He proved himself to be a man of a very small stature, when he was tested positive in a drug test. He was stripped off his gold medal, which was, in turn, awarded to Carl Lewis of America.

Performance in Sports. United States with 13 gold, 7 silvers and 6 bronzes retained their stronghold on track and field events. Kenya's proved that they are still outstanding in long distance running. The U.S. Athletes dominated the shorter events and the two of the four relays, Steven Lewis winner of the man’s 400 m and 4×400 m real was the fourth American multi-gold medalist was the fourth American multi-gold medalist.

Team events. In team events Football also saw the upsets, as USSR won the gold by downing Brazil 2-1 in the finals, in Basketball, the indomitable  American men ultimately bowed out in the to the  Soviets, ending a very-very long reign. However, The U.S. women's team managed to retain the gold. In volley hall the U.S.A Won the hard fought final. They heal USSR lo capture the gold in Hockey, Brittan came from background to win final when they that beat w. germane 3-1.

Conclusion. In some total the Seoul Olympics will go down in History as the best organized Olympiad. The new stars it had born will continue to glitter in the horizon for many-many years to come.
