My New Wrist Watch

Category : Essays

For almost six years now, I have been wearing an oldwrist watch which once belonged to my grandmother. That watch has been a great source of embarrassment for me as all my classmates tease me about it.

I do admit that it’s an antique watch which often refusesIn lick. As a result most often my friends have to keep telling me the time much to their irritation.

I have been coaxing my parents to buy me a new watch-but they haven't yet paid any heed to my demand. They pacify me when I get agitated by saying that it is my grandmother's favourite watch and that I can serve Her memory well by 'putting her watch to good use.Although I don't agree witli this argument I cannot get Away with too much of complaining. So I force myselfto remain satisfied with what I have.

While the question of a new watch has often beendiscussed in vain/ there has also been a decision to buy a new one this has come from my uncle who has oftenwitnessed the unpleasantness those results from the Discussion of this "issue". He has promised to buy mea new watch tomorrow.

Now my happiness knows no bounds. I have been toalmost all the showrooms close to my house and I still haven’t been able to make up my mind about whichone to buy. There are watches with coloured dials, fancystraps, interesting lettering etc.

I think the one that I will finally settle for is a gold wristwatch with a black dial and golden lettering. The strapis coated with gold and it looks as though it was madefor the most beautiful wrist in the world. I can't helptaking it for granted that the wrist that the watch wouldlook best on is mine.

Wait till my friends see the new wrist watch on mywrist they shall finally take back all the teasing that they subject me to.
