India is famous for her festivals. Holi is an important festival of Hindus. It falls in Fagun between February and March.

It is the beginning of harvest season. Farmers are very happy. Their hearts are full of joy. The roast new corns in the fire and distribute them among friends and relatives.

It is the festival of colours. It is celebrated in spring season. There is a spirit of joy in the hearts of the people.

People throw coloured water on one another. People rub gulal on the faces of their near and dear ones.

On this day the people move in the streets in group. They keep on visiting their friends and playing with colours throughout the day. They jump, dance and make merry.

Some people throw dirty water or mud on others. Some people drink on this day which a very bad habit. Some civilised persons only play with Gulals.

Holi should be played gracefully and dirty practices should be avoided. I like this festival very much.
