Brain Drain

When qualified professionals like doctors, engineers, Architects, scientists and technologists migrate from Under-developed countries and settle down in developed Countries, the problem is called 'brain drain'. It is a Comman problem in less-developed countries, but it is mor acute in India.

Brain drain is a direct loss to the under-developed Countries that train them at great cost and then lose them to other countries. As per a UN report, thousands of specialists migrate from backward countries like India To highly -developed countries like the USA, the UK, Gemini, Japan and some European countries.

There are a number of factors responsible for brain Dreain in India. First, India lacks job opportunities. After completion of the professional course and training, there is no proper employment in India. Second, we do not recognize and reward talent in our people. Hargobind khurana could not get work in India. We recognised his worth only when he left India for the United State and became a Nobel laureate.

India does not offer research and development facilities to qualified and trained professionals. These personnel are offered attractive jobs so that they stay on in advanced countries and give them the advantage of their Research. They settle down there forever.

Fourth advanced countries offer attractive lab facilities for research and give them high standard of living and

high wage

Fortunately, India has vast natural resources like oil, gas, coal, iron ore, minerals, precious stones, nuclear raw material. These have to be fully developed for use. But enough experts are not available in India. So, the resources tend to get neglected.

If parents are patriotic, they will stop their talent children from going overseas and settling down thera going abroad just for higher studies is a different thing but permanent settlement of trained Indian professional in other countries is injurious to the country.

However, there are some Indian experts who are lay and are serving India through their professional expertise—through science and technology for instance India is already a nuclear power. It has entered the space age. It is industrializing.

There is enormous scope in India. The nature resources have to be fully tapped. The country need framing a national policy to prevent brain drain Conditions should be created so that non-residen Indians return to their country of origin for its prosper it and advancement.
